WEEK 25 (Loon, Bohol)

February 29, 2016

Emailing late because Sister Panorel and I went on an adventure today! haha we went to this famous look- out point in Segbiyan- it was fun. Lots of opportunities for pictures so I'll send some.

Right now I am in the Loon internet cafe and there are tons of teenage boys and the minute I sat down they all started singing random songs and it's really funny...

Well, this week has been tough. We were punted so much- some days we would walk all over miles and miles and everywhere we went nobody would listen or our investigator would be gone. Also, all of our investigators will not come to church and it's so frustrating. I don't really understand, in my mind if I am investigating a church I would want to actually go to church to experience it... I'm not sure where the disconnect is there...it's a tough area for sure.

However, this week we received referrals and worked with some of the members here in Loon. That is awesome- members are so important to the work because they know the people/area way better than we will ever!!

Also!!! papayas grow like weeds here and all the members know I love them so we have been getting so much!! It's amazing!!! I eat them everyday

Well, this week I heard in church "a family that prays together stays together" and I believe it... I know I was a punk in high school about doing family prayer- but I really see how much kneeling together as a family can bring you closer and have the spirit in your home. so do ittttt :)))

This week we built a chicken coop for a member- that was cool.  I think because we whitewashed both Sister Panorel and I will stay here in Loon.. transfers next week already wow.

WEEK 24 (Loon, Bohol)

February 21, 2016

When you give a kid a snickers...

Hey hey,
So I'll be brief with a quick little story. We are now teaching Victor's family (the coconut guy) and his family is awesome- especially his daughter Nelvey- she is really progressing and will hopefully be baptized soon. But anyways, there is the cutest little boy who runs around this town of Loon with autism, I think...and it's sad because all the town people call him crazy- but he is the sweetest. Sister Panorel and I thought he was homeless.. he likes to follow us cause we always have candy- but ah I met him like first day here and just love him... guess what! Turns out he is Victor's kid also (they have 9 in all)! crazy coincidence! The family gave us lots of fresh crabs this week- delicious!!!

Well the work continues- we were really busy this week contacting all our new investigators from last week.. kinda seeing who is really interested versus who just wanted to hear an American speak Bisaya... unfortunately there were more of the latter but we still have a few that have lots of potential.

Sister Panorel and I have lots of fun together!!! haha we have both started taking video journals of our adventures- they are quite funny. And she is a master at destroying giant spider webs in the jungle... she likes to fight spiders but I just stay away cause I ain't about to touch one of those...

Miss you all- thought a lot about you this week. I am almost at 6 months crazy.  Yet seems like I've been here forever haha

Have a good one- remember CTR (choose the right? nahhh here its more like cook the rice :)))))))))))) <333

WEEK 23 (Loon, Bohol)

February 14, 2016

Wow- the weeks are flying by here in Loon!  Sister Panorel and I have been tracting a ton and we have 12 potential new investigators.  So I am pretty stoked!  This week we will return to all of them and see who is really interested or who just let us in to hear an American speak Bisaya....

Highlight of the week is we were wandering around looking for a less active member and we found this guy named Victor.  Sister Panorel asked him about the tons of coconut trees in his yard and all of a sudden he bounded up the tree and cut two coconuts for us, whipped out his machete and we drunk the yummiest coconut water ever!!!  Then he cut them open and we got to eat the inside.  Oh my, it is my new favorite!!  Then we found out while chatting that he had been to church before and taught by the missionaries a long time ago-- he said we could come by again!  So that was crazy cool..

We have had many similar experiences this week while wandering/ tracting of being led to people in the most unlikely of circumstances that have an interest.  I hope that continues cause is just shows that the Lord leads this work, not us.

Lots of laughs with my comp this week- we have a lot of fun together despite language... My language I feel like is really getting better and better each week we spend together.  We celebrated her 1 year mark on Saturday by making a yummy mango float!

Just wanted to say- if any of you are planning on serving (cough cough...Matt), I will say that my biggest regret is that I stopped playing the piano and now I can't play any hymns.  My branch here in Loon is in desperate need of a piano player and I am the first American sister that can't play.  Yah, I feel dumb.  So I suggest everyone learn at least hymns, because you never know..... :/

Also, I learned how to gut and clean squid this week!!!!  I accidentally ripped open the ink sac the first time and got ink everywhere in our kitchen…oops.  But it was fun and very yummy after!

Its been a fun week!  Bohol is beautiful!

p.s.-- Baby goat.  Um so this week I was eating at a restaurant and it was the best meat I have ever tasted...so soft and yummy.  I was like wow, this is the best beef or pork and my comp said.. it's goat..... I felt so bad because goats are like the cutest thing ever (see pic).  But wow, it was really good.

Victor in the tree, cutting our coconuts

The next day, me trying to be cool like Victor.  I didn't get very far.

Birthday celebration for Sister Amor.  They made me eat so much I thought I was gonna explode right there
