WEEK 23 (Loon, Bohol)

February 14, 2016

Wow- the weeks are flying by here in Loon!  Sister Panorel and I have been tracting a ton and we have 12 potential new investigators.  So I am pretty stoked!  This week we will return to all of them and see who is really interested or who just let us in to hear an American speak Bisaya....

Highlight of the week is we were wandering around looking for a less active member and we found this guy named Victor.  Sister Panorel asked him about the tons of coconut trees in his yard and all of a sudden he bounded up the tree and cut two coconuts for us, whipped out his machete and we drunk the yummiest coconut water ever!!!  Then he cut them open and we got to eat the inside.  Oh my, it is my new favorite!!  Then we found out while chatting that he had been to church before and taught by the missionaries a long time ago-- he said we could come by again!  So that was crazy cool..

We have had many similar experiences this week while wandering/ tracting of being led to people in the most unlikely of circumstances that have an interest.  I hope that continues cause is just shows that the Lord leads this work, not us.

Lots of laughs with my comp this week- we have a lot of fun together despite language... My language I feel like is really getting better and better each week we spend together.  We celebrated her 1 year mark on Saturday by making a yummy mango float!

Just wanted to say- if any of you are planning on serving (cough cough...Matt), I will say that my biggest regret is that I stopped playing the piano and now I can't play any hymns.  My branch here in Loon is in desperate need of a piano player and I am the first American sister that can't play.  Yah, I feel dumb.  So I suggest everyone learn at least hymns, because you never know..... :/

Also, I learned how to gut and clean squid this week!!!!  I accidentally ripped open the ink sac the first time and got ink everywhere in our kitchen…oops.  But it was fun and very yummy after!

Its been a fun week!  Bohol is beautiful!

p.s.-- Baby goat.  Um so this week I was eating at a restaurant and it was the best meat I have ever tasted...so soft and yummy.  I was like wow, this is the best beef or pork and my comp said.. it's goat..... I felt so bad because goats are like the cutest thing ever (see pic).  But wow, it was really good.

Victor in the tree, cutting our coconuts

The next day, me trying to be cool like Victor.  I didn't get very far.

Birthday celebration for Sister Amor.  They made me eat so much I thought I was gonna explode right there
Yummy squid

Fun with the kiddos
