WEEK 59 (Sagbayan)

October 23, 2016

This week was wonderful and full of miracles!

The greatest was the successful baptism of the beautiful Jandayan family. After praying and praying I was so happy the baptism went so smoothly. It was a beautiful baptism and the Spirit was so strong- we had our investigators there too. The parents of Brother Jandayan were there, so that was cool too! Honestly, I am so blessed to have met and had the chance to work with this family, they were so prepared for the Lord and I know they are truly converted to the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. They know their Savior and know they have finally found his church here on Earth. I can't wait until next year and they can all be sealed. I am determined to be here. We will just sum up the feelings of the day with the answer of Jamiaca Jandayan when Sister Bell asked her how she felt at her baptism:
"Before I felt heavy... but now after my baptism, I feel so light, so light I could fly, fly and fly!!"

Sister Anderson and I seem to always be so busy, it's great. The other day we felt like we needed to stop by Luisa Umbang, one of the recent converts here. We got there and it turns out her little boy who has a lot of allergies had been super sick all day, they had no money for medicine, so she had finally asked for help from the church but was really really shy about it. We were able to explain to her about the blessings of fast offerings. Sister Anderson quickly pulled out a verse in Mosiah 26:18 about how we are part of Christ's church and with that sometimes there are challenges but in the end we receive so many blessings. Sister Luisa then shared the most beautiful testimony about how she really felt the love from God. How she realizes she isn't alone. Before she never felt like there was anyone for her to turn too... but now she realizes she is part of a family and that through her faith and the faith of others members she will receive blessings from God.

We are so lucky to be part of Christ's church here on Earth. Everyday I see the peoples' confusion of other religions. I see the confusion and traditions that blind people from the truth and happiness here on Earth. I am so  grateful that I am a member of Christ's church and that my family is too. I have seen how the gospel can change a family's life. I have watched each member of the Jandayan family change and know they are so strong now and the Spirit is so strong in their home.

I love being a missionary and being able to share this truth with all those who will listen:)  Even if they don't wanna listen I still will talk their ear off. haha. Life is good!
Love you all. Have a good week <3

The Jandayan Baptism

WEEK 58 (Sagbayan)

October 16, 2016

Things are beautiful as always here in the peens... the Jandayan's all had their baptismal interviews and it went so well- Brother will be able to be baptized with his family and they are so ready and so excited. It is interesting Sister Anderson always tells me how much I light up when I am with them- I love them so much and really feel like every time I go there I'm going home to my family. Man that family- I came here on my mission to find and meet them. They mean so much to me.

It's so funny being with an American again after so long- last time that I had an American companion was when I was in training...it's so funny especially cause everything is so new to her and I am so used to everything and so Filipino...I forget what's weird and new... it's gonna be an adjustment to come home that's for sure. I love it here. We are working well together and I love helping and teaching Sister Anderson how to love the culture instead of focusing on the vast differences. She is great- super spiritually in-tune and is really bringing in great ideas for our investigators. I love it! When you are obedient, diligent and become a PMG missionary...you see miracles and are happy, no matter where in the world you are serving. I know it! (that's my advice to the next Elder Jackson!! )

This past week we did a CSP with the Racoma and Jandayan and helped them harvest rice!! It was so much work and hot and itchy BUT SO FUN! I loved it and then it's even cooler eating the rice you helped to harvest!  Rice is such a interesting process I would have never known.. I'll send pics!

Well we have been very busy here. I am always exhausted. But happy exhuasted, being a missionary is so great. There is this EFY song that talks about how people in the temple all over the world are always praying for the missionaries. Always praying for me and and my investigators. That's pretty special and I am grateful for their prayers during the rough times.

Well I love you all dearly.  Feel like its been a really really long time--almost Christmas time! 5months na lang!!

WEEK 57 (Sagbayan)

October 9, 2016

I know i just sent a group email thursday but I just have to share my experience this past weekend. First off, Conference was amazing. It's amazing how inspired our prophet and apostles are- they really spoke from God and i think address so very serious issues. I loved really loved Elder Cook's talk from Saturday session (no bias) and President Nielsen's also. The Jandayan came and sat through all 4 hours of sunday session ( i was so happy it was all in Bisaya for the members) and despite the length the really enjoyed it. Sister Linda Reeves gave a talk about repentance that really hit brother. When we went over the later that night he had a lot of questions about the process.. and after talking about it we realized that he has some other things that he needs to take care off from his past life before he gets baptized. I am so grateful for the inspiration Sister Reeves received to write and give her talk that really inspired brother and helped him know about the importance of the repentance process. He and his family really mean so much to me.

I was worried about brother because I know this is gonna be a hard process for him. But as I was thinking about it this morning I was just overcome with a peace and just overwhelming feeling that it doesn't matter what he did. He can become clean. He can be forgiven. That is the power of the atonement in our lives. That is what Christ did for each one of us. That is why I am here- to share this Gospel and this truth with whoever will accept and listen. Jesus Christ loves us. He died for us. I know this is true. I know that his restored gospel is true, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day saints is His church today. I know that without a shadow of a doubt. He runs it through living prophets, just like in times of old.

I love my Savior, my testimony of Him and my relationship has grown so much since starting my mission. I see the blessing of God everyday everywhere I go. It has changed me and i will continue to serve him with all my might, mind, heart and strength everyday here in the Philippines and everyday for the rest of my life.
Because he Lives. We can have peace. We can be clean. We can live again.

WEEK 56 (Sagbayan)

October 5, 2016

maayong buntag!!

Well transfers- I did not expect it, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. I am still in Sagbayan!! YAY! and I am training again...yup! So that means I'll be here for December! YAY! So yesterday I went to Cebu to get my second anak! and she is Amerikana!! Her name is sister Anderson and she is from Minnesota! It's gonna be awesome- she has a great attitude and is so excited to be here and be a missionary.

It was actually surprising because a lot of trainers were either brand new or had trained before and Pres really talked about how he is trying to change the culture and bad habits of this mission. Change so we can improve as a mission and as missionaries. And that starts with the new missionaries. I feel honored to train again. This mission is different than when I first got here- it has been amazing to see its growth.

So yes I am here in Sagbayan to stay and I couldn't be happier. I wish I could do better at explaining my happiness in words- but at the meeting Sister Maughan asked me to talk a little to the new missionaries about my personal struggles and just about my mission- and I just kept saying how much whatever happens- just love it! Every morning and night I thank Heavenly Father for my opportunity to be here, to be the missionary teaching Jandayan and other families and to just be a missionary. It is such a wonderful calling and it's so fun. I love it so much and I just love my life here so much. And that all really comes because I love the Lord and this gospel.

We brought a cake to the Jandayans for the first b-day of baby Fidel and we had a huge dinner together and they had invited all of their neighbors to come here our message and a lot of them said we could go teach them! Yay! also on Sunday Brother and Sister both shared their testimonies of this gospel and church. Brother had been studying about sacrifice and talked about before he was never doing anything for the Lord and he was pretty much always sinning and all it ever brought was problems or tension. Yet when he starts sacrificing for the Lord and learning about Him- he see the blessings- especially with how close their family is now. And Sister shared about how she had been praying for her family every night- pouring out her heart and soul asking for help and how her prayers have now been answered. It was powerful meeting. They are a powerful family.. The branch pres already has a calling picked out for brother after his baptism- I am so excited for him to receive the priesthood. Our last lesson with them and also Apple.. sister Monteras was so powerful and taught wonderfully- she is so ready and I am so grateful that i have been able to see her grow these past 12 weeks.

We as missionaries are here to lift others, to serve others, to serve our heavenly father and to become more like our savior Jesus Christ by bringing others unto him- What a lucky girl I am to be having the chance to do so.

love you all
